Liverpool face falling further behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race after a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Champions League finalists moved top of the league on goal difference, but City have the chance to extend their lead to three points against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.
An entertaining first-half failed to produce a goal, but Son Heung-min swept home in the 56th minute after a flowing Spurs move to give the Londoners a surprise lead.
They then defended resolutely, despite intense Liverpool pressure, and were slightly unlucky to concede to a deflected strike from Luis Diaz after 74 minutes.
Liverpool, while wary of Tottenham’s danger on the break, looked the more likely to score, but could not fashion the crucial chance. It was the first time they have dropped points at Anfield since October.
While an excellent result for Tottenham in isolation, Antonio Conte’s side still trail Arsenal by one point in the race for fourth, with their rivals holding a game in hand.
Liverpool have three games left in the Premier League — against Aston Villa, Southampton, and Wolves.
The draw means City can afford to draw one of their remaining fixtures, and still win the title.
