Lightning Brayden Point's OT goal staves off elimination, forces Game 7 vs. Maple Leafs

The Tampa Bay Lightning staved off elimination by defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime on Thursday to force a Game 7. Brayden Point scored in overtime, sealing the win.

The Lightning were down 3-2 to the Maple Leafs heading to the third period. Nikita Kucherov tied the game in the third period on the power play before Point won it in overtime.

The Maple Leafs fall to 0-9 in elimination games since 2013. They are trying to advance to the second round for the first time since 2004.

“We’ve just got to put our balls on the line and go for it,” Leafs forward Auston Matthews said postgame.
