iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max to have much more differentiation than standard iPhone 15 models, says Kuo.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are vastly different from the standard iPhone 14 models this year. A new design for the display, a new processor, and new cameras are what make the Pro variants of the iPhone 14 more desirable. However, Apple wants to increase the gap between the standard and Pro variants from next year, suggests Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.He has no information on what the features will be but the gap between these models is going to be huge!
“I believe Apple will create more differentiation between iPhone 15 Pros and iPhone 15 standard models to increase Pro shipment allocation and the new iPhone ASP,” says Kuo in his latest note. Based on the known leaks on the iPhone 15 series, it is the iPhone 15 Pro models that are expected to get a new periscope lens setup for the zoom camera, as well as the USB-C port. The Pro variants could also get a much faster and power efficient chipset this time.
iPhone 15 Pro models to be more capable?
So far, the leaks on iPhone 15 series suggest three key areas of improvement over the iPhone 14 Pro models:
-A faster 3nm chipset expected to offer more raw power and better efficiency.
-A new periscopic lens setup on the zoom camera of the 15 Pro.
-The transition from Lightning port to USB-C port.
If these upgrades are just restricted to the iPhone 15 Pro, the standard iPhone 15 could then be largely similar to the iPhone 14, which is also similar to the iPhone 13 from last year. Hence, the standard version of the iPhone could be equivalent of the flagship killer phones from Android, while the iPhone Pro variants could be the equivalent of the top-spec flagships.
This year alone, it is the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max that have larger differences to the standard models than the previous generation iPhone 13 series. The Pro models use the newer and slightly more powerful A16 Bionic chip, a new Dynamic Island treatment to replace the notch, a new 48MP main camera along with a new 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a new colour variant.
The standard iPhone 14, on the other hand, is largely similar to the iPhone 13, except for a new main camera sensor with better low light photography, satellite connectivity and more.
