Angels' Shohei Ohtani hits 100th career home run

Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani hit his 100th career home run in Saturday night’s game against the Oakland A’s.

In the fifth inning, Ohtani crushed a two-run homer, sending it 418 feet to center field and allowing Mike Trout to score. His home run gave the Angels an 8-1 lead.


Ohtani is the second player in MLB history with at least 100 home runs as a batter and 250 strikeouts as a pitcher, joining Babe Ruth, according to ESPN Stats & Info. The Angels star has 268 career Ks through 216 innings pitched.

Ohtani joins Seattle Mariners legend Ichiro Suzuki and former New York Yankees outfielder Hideki Matsui as the only players born in Japan to reach 100 MLB home runs, per ESPN Stats & Info.
